Cette œuvre brillante et virtuose met particulièrement bien en valeur l'orgue Loret-Thomas du Finistère, mettant en relief les jeux de détail dans le second mouvement. Le texte des leçons (ou plus justement "lectures", le terme leçon étant une traduction impropre de "lectione") est celui des lamentations de Jérémie, prophète de l'Ancien Testament, qui déplore la destruction de Jérusalem par les Babyloniens. Dans la tradition catholique, les leçons évoquent la solitude du Christ abandonné par ses apôtres, et illustrent l'appel à la conversion tel que la période du Carême le propose.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:85%;"&gt;L'un des rites de ces leçons consiste à éteindre progressivement les bougies et à plonger l'auditoire dans l'obscurité profonde, les ténèbres.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:85%;"&gt;Les leçons de François Couperin sont au nombre de trois. Les deux premières font appel à une voix seule, cependant que la troisième, écrite pour deux voix de dessus, est regardée par les musicologues comme l'un des sommets de l'art vocal de l'époque baroque. Il est également lauréat de plusieurs Premiers Prix et de diverses distinctions dans d’autres disciplines.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:85%;"&gt;Il s’est produit en tant que soliste en Belgique, aux Pays-Bas, en Suisse, en Allemagne, en Angleterre et en France. Nico Declerck s’est ainsi construit une excellente réputation comme harmoniste.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:85%;"&gt;Il est également très demandé en tant qu’accompagnateur. Il a accompagné le chœur du Nationale Reisopera d’Enschede (NL), le Vlaams Radio Koor et le chœur du Vlaamse Opera.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:85%;"&gt;Il a enregistré son CD Les Cloches du Soir sur son harmonium-celesta de V.Mustel, exemplaire unique daté de 1900 qui fût spécialement conçu pour le défunt directeur des chemins de fer belge Louis Piérard de Bruxelles. Le CD fût très bien accueilli par le presse étrangère.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:85%;"&gt;Jusqu’en 2005 il a été régisseur de scène pour le famuex Festival de Bayreuth. Il est également chargé d’assurer le suivi de production des concerts d’orgue. &lt;br /&gt;Titulaire des orgues de Bornival et de l’église Saint Marc à Uccle (Bruxelles), il se produit régulièrement en concert, comme soliste et dans des ensembles de musique de chambre. A deux extraits de l'orgelbüchleinet des chorals de Leipzig, succédaient des chorals de dimensions modestes extraits des 14 chorals-improvisations où Karg-Elert revisite les mélodies de chorals séculaires. C'est l'occasion d'explorer les ressources des jeux gambés, en les octaviant vers le haut et le bas si nécessaire, et de doser les mélanges des fonds subtils. deux compositeurs que peu de choses semblent réunir, à part leur place dans l'histoire de l'école d'orgue française. Ils ont aussi en commun le goût pour les pièces écrites dans un tempo très lent.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Leur trait d'union dans ce programme : le choral "O homme, pleure tes lourds péchés" joué également dans un tempo adagio assai et un adagissimo à la fin.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;L'orgue du Finisère est quelque peu indigent en mutations, mais le cornet permet de pallier quelque peu. "Faute de grives, on mange des merles" dit le dicton. Il vaut mieux ne rien manger du tout, car en plus des grives musiciennes et des merles noirs, on a pu entendre dans "le chant des oiseaux", le rossignol et le rouge-gorge. Il fut élève de Camille Saint-Saëns, et devint assistant à  la Madeleine. Un curieux mélange, à côté des "tubes" que sont sa toccata et son scherzo! (et les compositions qui ont subi son influence....) l'organiste imagine embarquer sur la gondole de Venise en chantant...
